Translation Services

Translation Services provides language support services keep parents and guardians informed about their child’s studies, while providing school staff with efficient and accurate communication in the languages most spoken in the district. The services listed below are provided to �鶹��schools and departments.

Please note changes for school year 2024-2025:

Tier I Meeting Coverage

After-hours interpretation services needed for under two hours will be provided at Tier I meetings such as:

• Academic workshops (e.g., math night)
• Parent meetings and workshops (e.g., orientations, senior parent meetings)
• Community meetings (e.g., F.R.O.G events)

Should services be needed for two hours or more, an activity code will be required.

Tier II Meeting Coverage:

Unless an activity code is provided, after-hours interpretation services will not be provided at the following Tier II meetings:

• PTA/PTO/SBDM meetings
• Band concerts
• Plays
• Award ceremonies
• Meetings lasting less than 30 minutes

Meeting Agenda Requirement (all hours)

In compliance with grant funding regulations, a meeting agenda will now be required when submitting interpreter requests for both regular and after-hours meetings (excl. ARD and 504 meetings).

Interpreter Hotline

Mon-Fri, 8 a.m. — 5 p.m.

Provides communication between district staff and limited English-proficient parents via three-way conversation.

For the following languages, please call and leave a message. The interpreters will return calls as soon as they are available.

• Kirundi/Kinyarwanda or Swahili: (972) 925-5889

• For urgent calls or languages not listed, call (972) 925-5882.

For calls that are longer than 15 minutes, please request an interpreter with the online form. If you have any Hotline questions, email Garbiñe Ryan at gryan@dallasisd.org. 

Translation Services (Documents):

• Please submit all documents in an editable format such as WORD. Locked texts that include images/pictures cannot be translated. Please be sure to unlock the document before submitting.
• Documents will be returned via email upon completion.
• If changes are made to the document after it has been translated, highlight changes before resubmitting for translation.

Interpretation Services (Meetings):

• Interpretation services are provided for meetings as requested by �鶹��staff only.
• Interpreter name and assignment confirmation will be sent via email. If meeting is canceled, or a change of time/location is made, please contact Alejandra Granell at interpreters@dallasisd.org or (972) 925-5885.
• An activity code is required for meetings such as PTA/PTO/SBDM meetings, band concerts, plays, award ceremonies, and meetings lasting less than 30 minutes.

Academic Language Support in Arabic, Burmese, Chin, Dari, Kirundi, Pashto, and Swahili:

• Interpreters are available to assist teachers with students who are new to the country and whose native language is Arabic, Burmese, Chin, Dari, Kirundi or Swahili. To inquire about this service, please contact Desi Mier at interpreters2@dallasisd.org or (972) 925-5882.
